Who Am I

I have spent my life in service of others and am currently working towards a graduate degree to further this personal mission. In my current career, I fight for equitable education every day. I work at what demographers call the poverty intersection of race and age, helping provide the just, equitable school environments and high-quality education that all children deserve. This mission is driven by my experience with national service as an alumnus of the Peace Corps. I served as an HIV/AIDS community educator in the Kingdom of Eswatini, in southern Africa. Although my work in the Peace Corps was extremely inspirational, my service year was transformative for me personally. Over the last ten years, it has been the primary driver of my career goals and ambitions.

My decision to pursue a master's degree in Public Policy stems from my diverse exposure to racial disparities across the globe. Most notably right here in the United States. With my continued education, I aim to gain the tools to address inequitable policies holding thousands of students back in urban areas. I want to fully understand public policy and its crucial role in forming society's guidelines and principles. I want to use this new knowledge to inform policies that will help transform education systems in America, creating a more equitable future for everyone.
