Who Am I

My name is Benjamin, but everyone calls me Ben. I was born in November in the year 2004. I grew up in a suburb in Phoenix, Arizona. I am a well rounded individual who loves academics, athletics, and community service. I am currently a student at Brophy College Preparatory who is involved in various academic extracurriculars (Modern Medicine and Math Club), service-oriented extracurriculars (Key Club and National Honors Society), and sports (rugby and mountain biking).

I look forward to studying biomedical engineering in college and learning how I can implement biomedical engineering in a community-service-like manner. I am passionate about biomedical engineering in that I love learning about how the human body works and how we can use technology to improve our health and quality of life. I am constantly inspired by the potential of this field to make a difference in people's lives, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this field of study.

My favorite activity, the Paz de Cristo Bike Repair, is an on-site, free bike repair service at Paz de Cristo (PC). PC provides free food and other essentials to the homeless in Phoenix. When volunteering, I noticed that many homeless arrived on malfunctioning bicycles so I created this free bike repair service. Along with coordinating donations, spending, and other logistics, I lead a team to repair over 15 bikes per month. I think community service is a great way to help people and I’m grateful for the opportunity to do it.
