Who Am I

From an early age, I harbored a deep-seated interest in understanding global affairs, political dynamics, and the power of storytelling. My curiosity has served as the foundation for my goal of pursuing a degree in either international affairs, political science, or journalism. These fields have become the lens through which I seek to comprehend the complexities of the world, and these fields are also where I desire to contribute to society. Whether it's unraveling the intricacies of international relations, delving into the nuances of political structures, or mastering the art of journalistic storytelling, I immerse myself in a realm of knowledge that will serve as the bedrock of my future endeavors at Howard University and beyond where I would strive to graduate with honors and seek a career in public relations, and communications roles with mass media companies, government agencies, or nonprofit organizations. I also plan to attend law school after undergrad.
My journey from highschool to college is a testament to my determination and resilience of my relentless pursuit of success and academic excellence. I have accumulated a high school GPA of 3.83 by taking a combination of advance placement, honors, dual enrollment and strategic elective classes—like journalism that allow me to continue my interests while in school. I was the news editor in my school’s newspaper which allowed me to work on more complicated assignments that involved more high-ranking individuals like principals, superintendents, school board members and operation directors for different agencies, to which me and my staff members won the highest honors for journalism in the state of Georgia. This scholarship will help ease the financial burden of my postsecondary education and give me some breathing room for the next few chapters of my life.

While I have participated and led multiple different clubs and activities within my high school, it has not only enriched my high school experience, but has also left a mark on my school's diverse culture. As the current president of the Black Student Union I have actively worked towards fostering a sense of unity and empowerment within the Druid Hills community. Under my stewardship of the BSU I have prioritized the need for community service, education and advocacy by working closely with Georgia State University's Black Law Students Association to host career fairs within my school, DeKalb County’s NAACP Youth Chapter for volunteer opportunities during Black History Month and Emory University’s and the University of Georgia’s journalism programs for my peers to better understand the need for advocacy.
In addition to my role within the BSU, I have led collaborations with other environmental orientated clubs around the Emory Community to organize campus beautification opportunities, mulch planting, gardening and trash collecting. During any holiday or special celebrations our band is asked to play at stadiums and host parades—such as our Veteran’s Day parade at Truist Park in Atlanta.
