Who Am I

I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering student at Vanderbilt University with a passion for engineering, education, and hands-on innovation. Before transferring to Vanderbilt, I earned a 3.971 GPA at the University of Massachusetts Lowell Honors College, where I was recognized with the Chancellor's List and the First-Year Writing Excellence Award for outstanding research and writing.

For more than a decade, I have been involved with the Youth Development Organization (YDO), a nonprofit serving under-resourced students in Lawrence, Massachusetts. After beginning as a student, I returned as a teacher and teacher assistant, developing engineering curriculum, creating hands-on projects, and teaching electrical engineering and mathematics to classes of more than 20 students. This experience strengthened my leadership, communication, and mentorship skills while reinforcing my belief that knowledge is most meaningful when it is shared.

Beyond the classroom, I have pursued opportunities that combine engineering with creativity. Through internships with Fresh Films, I trained alongside IATSE professionals in electrical logistics, construction, camera systems, lighting, and production, gaining experience in both technical problem-solving and collaborative teamwork. My work also earned me an IMDb production assistant credit.

My technical interests include embedded systems, FPGA development, electronics design, and programming in Python, C++, C, JavaScript, and Verilog. I also have experience with SolidWorks, KiCad, Arduino, and advanced manufacturing tools through the University of Massachusetts Lowell Makerspace.

As a bilingual English and Spanish speaker, educator, and aspiring engineer, I hope to develop technologies that improve people's lives while continuing to mentor future generations of students. I believe that engineering is not only about designing innovative solutions but also about inspiring others to discover their own passion for creating them.

Certifications:

I am proficient in Python, C++, C, JavaScript, HTML, Verilog, Arduino development, SolidWorks, KiCad, Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and embedded systems programming. Through over a decade of hands-on engineering experience, I have designed and built electronic circuits, electromagnetic motors, RC vehicles, FPGA projects, and mechanical systems while developing strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

I hold an Adobe Certified Professional certification, CPR certification, and a University of Massachusetts Lowell 3D Lab & Makerspace License. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and have extensive experience leading engineering projects, creating instructional materials, mentoring students, collaborating in team environments, and adapting quickly to new technologies and challenges.

Employment History:

I have over five years of experience as a Teacher and Teacher Assistant with the Youth Development Organization (YDO), a nonprofit serving students in Lawrence, Massachusetts. In this role, I developed lesson plans, designed hands-on engineering projects, and taught electrical engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering, and 3D modeling to elementary, middle, and high school students. This experience strengthened my leadership, communication, organization, and mentorship skills while fostering an engaging learning environment that encouraged curiosity and creativity.

Additionally, I completed internships with Fresh Films, where I trained alongside industry professionals in electrical logistics, camera operations, lighting, construction, editing, and production. Working on professional film sets allowed me to develop strong teamwork, time management, and technical problem-solving skills while gaining experience with production equipment, project planning, and collaboration in fast-paced environments. My work also earned me an IMDb Production Assistant credit for Groundhog Gary: 6 More Weeks.
